“There’s nothing in this program!”—Experts’ Reactions to Photoshop 1.0 Are Priceless

by . March 19th, 2015

It’s quite easy to take for granted the convenience and capabilities of image editing software Adobe Photoshop.

Probably so much that we fail to take into account the previous generations of graphic designers who relied on the first iterations of the software.

Before the minimalist “PS” logo of Photoshop, there was the feather plume, and before the feather plume, there was the eye of Adobe Photoshop 1.0

Adobe Photoshop was created in 1988 by Thomas and John Knoll. Since then, it has become a household name, synonymous with “image editing”, and the go-to software of the design industry for its image manipulation needs.

I guess I don’t need to tell you the features of Photoshop because for sure, you know them better than I do.

But have you tried using the first Photoshop?

Bet you haven’t!

But these Photoshop experts did and their reactions are priceless.

hahahahaha

It seems their first impression was “There’s nothing in this program!” There was no live preview. There were no layers. And there was just one undo. ONE UNDO.

We have it easy guys. I definitely admire the dedication of the previous generations of designers who used (and were most likely frustrated with) Photoshop.

The video was created by the E-Learning site CreativeLive to commemorate Adobe Photoshop’s 25th Anniversary. Check out the rest of the video below:

What’s your favorite Photoshop feature (that you probably take for granted)? Comment below!
