by . September 8th, 2013

After a month of waiting Yahoo has finally unveiled their new logo last September 4 on a Tumblr post. While many are glad to see the change there were a lot of people who cringed at the sight of the new logo.

Yahoo has finally unveiled their new logo after the 30 Days of Change. The 30 Days of Change is where Yahoo paraded their new logo ideas which started last August 7, 2013. Some are good and some not so much but last September 5 Yahoo has now finally showed the who world their logo. “We knew we wanted a logo that reflected Yahoo – whimsical, yet sophisticated.  Modern and fresh, with a nod to our history.  Having a human touch, personal.  Proud.”  Wrote by Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer explaining the new logo on her Tumblr post.

For those who hasn’t seen the new Yahoo logo here it is:

Unfortunately the new logo was not received that well and to some extent it even got ridiculed. Mayer’s statement of adding a 9 degree tilt on the exclamation point to have a bit of whimsy was even laughed at. On Twitter, designers shared their thoughts on how ridiculous and stiff the new logo is.

Helvetica documentary director- Gary Huswit tweeted that the new logo is just another font with bezels and bad kerning in it.

Even on Facebook and on Tumblr the new logo did not escaped the disappointment of many users.

A lot of people have pointed out that the new logo is just to bland and boring. The bevel effect didn’t even helped and worst it even made the logo look like it’s moving backwards. Marissa’s statement of joining the designers during her weekend to help on working the logo gained some lashing as well.

Design wise the logo is a lackluster performer according to the majority of people and there have been better candidates showcased on the 30 Days of Change. Despite the  negative reaction about the logo Yahoo somewhat got the buzz that they needed. This buzz only proves that the naysayers are wrong on saying that Yahoo has become irrelevant maybe the company just needs a better looking logo.

What do you guys think? Do you think Yahoo chose the wrong logo for their re-design? Tell us at the comments below!
