An increased focus on numbers and statistics has become a pervasive trend in business leadership. Following this tactic often fuels a negative work environment–leading to stress and depression for employees. When numbers dominate the values of a business, competition becomes the focus, and communication dwindles.

If you’re scared of creating this kind of attitude, mastering your emotional intelligence is essential. Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand and positively react to your own emotions and the emotions of others.

This creates an environment that revolves around communication and belonging, minimizing stress and increasing overall happiness. When leaders care more for those they lead, the people they lead will care more for them.

The infographic below from the University of Maryland’s Online MBA Program, provides some great information about how to incorporate more EI in your life.
