Hey, so this is my first post on UCreative and just wanted to get a few critiques on a logo I'm redesigning for a Animal Shelter located in Alabama.  The logo they have now is an outdated logo, and all they had was a low quality jpeg version of it.  This is what I've come up, it has a lot of symbolism in.

This is their logo that they have had for years. They have been a small animal shelter and have wanted to update their style, but stay somewhat recognizable in their community.  This logo didn't really make sense for me for an animal shelter.

This is the logo that I redesigned.  I wanted it to have a more modern feel, yet represent what CAAWA does as an animal shelter.  My idea for this redesign was to show it in a way that represents many different meanings.  Shelter/animals/care  I wanted ANIMAL WELFARE to really stand out in the word-mark because that's what CAAWA is all about.  Just looking for some general critiques!  Thanks!!

i like it... Looks a good redesign without fully getting away from the previous one. I like when redesigns don't forget the history of the logo. Great job. ;)

Hey thanks Edgar!! I appreciate your kind words!!

I agree with Edgar. Nice. Its clean and like the offset layout. Looks like a more modern version of the previous.

i like it too. it looks much softer and more friendly than the previous one. The shapes of both pets has been smoothed which does give more elegance to the design.

Definitely an improvement from the original however there are two things that stick out to me. The first is the unusally long necks of the animals. I understand the intent is to have it so they intercross, however its important not to compromise correct proportions of the animals themselves to achieve this. The second thing I notice is the unusual negative space created around the top of the dog to the top of the pendent. It could be considered a preference thing, but in my opinion it makes it feel unbalanced and bottomheavy. This could possibly be remedied in part by fixing the issue with the necks and then bringing the top point of the pendent down a bit, or making it a rounded shape instead of a point. Overall I think you are definitely on the right track, perhaps just some added time and revisions to really sculpt a polished final product.

I think the logo is good as it is, but maybe try to add some color gradient like here for example to smooth the logo: http://www.logodesign-uk.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/logo-design...
