Blogs, Twitter and Facebook: How they Drive Traffic to Your Site

Social media is an integrated part of our daily lives. Most people stay connected with Facebook accounts, follow their friends and family on Twitter and read others’ blogs to hear opinions, learn breaking news, discover new gadgets, etc. All of these are examples of networking.  What is not mentioned above, however, is networking for your business.

Benefits to Business
Because a website tends to be more informational, it is important to implement a social media presence to humanize your brand, communicate openly to potential clients, and simplify your message. Social media tools you are already familiar with like Facebook, Twitter and blogging are easy and successful ways to reach your audience in a personal and professional way.

One of the first things to do is to create and attach a blog to your website. With blog publishing platforms such as WordPress, you can easily customize the appearance of your blog to match that of your brand. By routinely posting quality and current information that appeals to your clients and by responding to their comments, you are further strengthening your presence and relevance on the web as well as providing more optimization to your website.

Businesses, institutions or non-profits can use social media is to drive traffic to their websites. Using all three reaches a vast audience. The more active you are on the web, the more often your name or your company will come up in common searches such as Google.

Another great advantage is the ease of linking these tools together. Easy access to all your social media pages, your website and direct contact to you and your company is achieved by simply adding links to your blog, Twitter, and Facebook pages. You can link them all to your website and you can link them to each other. In fact, Facebook and Twitter now work together and update each other when you tweet or change your status! The expansion of your company’s client base and audience becomes exponential and insured. On Twitter, maintain a professional profile and use it consistently by producing relevant tweets and following other “tweoples,” as they will then tend to follow you. Because you can only type 140 characters for each tweet, it’s easy to update daily and quick for followers to read.

On Facebook, create a business fan page or a professional profile to establish credibility and expertise in your field. Humanize and personalize your brand by adding photos and current updates to your Facebook profile. Also, make sure to respond to wall posts and messages and follow those that follow you!

So to recap- create a blog that is attached to your website, then link your Twitter and Facebook pages to your blog and your website. Have your Facebook status automatically update your Twitter or vice versa and provide a link to your blog on both your Facebook and Twitter page. Post current updates, reply to comments, and provide relevant and helpful information. And most of all enjoy watching the expansion of your brand and its web presence through social media interaction!

Hello,

Social links are great, but until we know about factors that define "authoritative" profiles, traditional linking will still be king. High trust/high authority domains will still pack a heavy punch in terms of ranking. The only thing I really see being extra-beneficial about Facebook and Twitter having an impact is the fact that quality content attracts regular links, but can attract FB Likes and Tweets even easier. To some extent, this update may level the playing ground for some websites.
