Hi everyone,

Just read this post on Youthedesigner about using a design blog to find new clients.

http://www.youthedesigner.com/2011/08/11/how-to-use-a-design-blog-t...

Wanted to get everyone's thoughts on this. If you have a design blog, has it helped you get more clients? Do you think maintaining and keeping a design blog would be helpful for you as a freelance designer?

Share your blog if you have one as well!

Thanks!

well, i just redesigned my site a few weeks ago and it has a blog but it isn't really a design blog, i will talk about design, but not like a problogger, just some random things here and there.

here if you want to peek: http://www.edgaralmeida.net/

Hey Edgar, took a look at your portfolio. It looked familiar 'cause I already saw the dark wood background in your submissions here in the design gallery. I really liked how you kept things consistent between your site and the actual designs, nice touch! Thanks for the UCreative write-up as well!

Thanks :)

Glad you liked it.

You're welcome about the write up. ;) I also shared it on twitter and facebook so i could get the ucreative to more people.

My blog is http:nucreature.com

Yep, a while back I decided to combine my portfolio, photo blog, and blog into one website. I try to post tips, tutorials, and advice from time-to-time as well as new photography and other bits of interesting including reviews etc. The idea being that the additional content will help with search engine ranking and show that I am confident in my skills to offer help for others aspiring to learn.

I have gotten several clients just from my website/blog and it has been beneficial for me. I do think I could probably add more content that appeals to more clients than designers like the linked article in original posts explains however. My site with blog is http://synthetictone-media.com

Blogging is a really good way to raise your online presence and to engage with others. I therefore think that keeping a design blog would be a great idea for other freelance designer as it would improve your website SEO as well as providing an extra way to showcase your skills to prospective clients.
I agree that combining your portfolio site with a blog is a great way to share your views and inspirations. It also allows clients to get a better idea of what you as an artist are all about. It's definitely something I have been considering while planning a redesign of my current site.

Huum good blog, for new designers it will a inspiring one. It is goo that you are understanding there problem and looking forward to help and assist them.... Good job, keep it up....
