Hello everyone,
So this is pretty much my first logo and I know it may not be the best so I am expecting a lot of critiques and such.
I made it for my friend (he wants to be a music producer)
Reasoning for the idea:
1. He REALLY wanted a paint splatter around the M haha
2. Due to his dream career I thought it would be suiting to put some headphones around the M
3. I was going for nice clean and simple shapes for the headphones
4. I am mainly trying to get a basic idea down for the design
5. It's 7am here and I haven't slept yet so forgive me if there are any erratic parts of the design that don't seem quite right lol
So please go ahead and destroy this design with your critiques so I may rebuild it better. And I am sorry for this long story

Permalink Reply by Kerby Rosanes on July 5, 2012 at 2:02pm The idea of putting headphones on the "M" is good. The simplicity of the font used in the text is also nice but I believe you should experiment on it more with placing some minimal color scheme. The splatters is just a bit off for the music theme but since it is his request, you can just utilize to highlight the "M" and make it a bit stand out from the rest of the logo components.

Permalink Reply by Pia Zoraya Revelo on July 5, 2012 at 3:11pm Hi! I think the LOGO is great. You can just refine the splatter edges a bit so that it looks more natural. Creating a 3D-like Illusion for the headphone as well as the letter M might also improve its appearance. :)

Permalink Reply by Dearne Willing on July 7, 2012 at 4:29am Hi Levi,
I really like your 'first logo', the design identifies the music producer theme and its purpose. I feel the headphones bring the meaning into the logo along with the text. I have been searching on the graphic design websites and predictions where most of them state simple and clean will be the way to go with future designs; so you are on the right track, well done with your design.
I am currently studying Certificate III Graphic Design Pre Press in Tasmania, Australia and I have to create a logo for a simulated Fruitshop. At first I found it daunting, however now I am not afraid to experiement with InDesign and Illustartor now that I am becoming familiar with the tools.
One of my assessments is to participate in a graphic design forum and I felt yours related to the my course regarding desiging logos.
Keep up the good work
Kind regards
Dee

I like to stay simple with my designs, it seems to be a trend now with products and logos so I think you are totally correct.
I hope your design class is going well and I think it would be awesome to go to school in Australia :)
Best of luck in all your present and future projects!

Permalink Reply by Douglas Cullen on July 18, 2012 at 2:18pm I like how you emphasized the 'M' using the splatter. Looking forward to see the improved version soon. :)
Permalink Reply by Levi Wager on July 19, 2012 at 2:43pm Thanks for noticing my effort :)
I hope I can get time soon to apply these changes. I have been so busy lately that I haven't had time to do work on this project :(
Thanks again for your response :)
Permalink Reply by Valerie Harhager on July 21, 2012 at 8:09am Wonderful job for your first logo! Enjoy the headphones a lot, but maybe try experimenting with san-serif fonts. I like how simple it is right now but the M is coming off very heavy. Also if your friend is dead set on keeping the splatter try making it a little lighter so you do not need to outline the M. It will make it look a little cleaner. Overall great job!

I really do need to work on my font usage and I think making the splatter a lighter color is a wonderful idea!
Thanks again for the help :)
Permalink Reply by Saya on July 31, 2012 at 10:24am I like the headphone I think it is a creative touch. Here are my suggestions:
- Splatter and M need to be more adjusted Not like M is pasted on top of paint
- Proportion of M and splatter with the rest of the type is out of balance
- Use or try colors and
- Experiment with other font faces too
Good luck and nice work
