I wanted to open a photo studio... but too many poeple have gotten my hopes down telling me that photo studios don't make any money anymore... and I had the unfortunate luck of seeing a local photo studio shut down in a nearby area...

Does anyone have any comments? Is it a good idea to open a photo Studio in todays market? Any possible niche?

without knowing about San Bernardino, CA, i can at least say that in St.Louis, MO, i know of a photographer who got tons of work via a rental company, shooting pics of properties (they had about a thousand or more). she eventually was featured in an architectural/interior design magazine, and later got extra work shooting pics of the landlord's family --portraits-- and other stuff like fashion runway models, bands performing, local events, etc...

even when shooting a pic of a lonely apartment, she took it seriously, and shot the best photos possible. when editing the portraits, she took extreme care in the lighting, and subtle editing to make the subject appear the best possible.

her pics were always in focus, well lit, and gave the client many options to choose from.

Thank you... that brings my hopes up... I been investigating... I found a descent location... Thank you.

Has anyone ever heard of MindWhisper Designs?... I've come up with a lot names but a lot of them are taken... so I ask people out there, has anyone ever heard of MindWhisper?

i'd say go for it. It sounds risky but if your passion drives you enough it's worth trying. You can start small, perhaps doing a few photo shoot for a few friends and eventually grow from referral and finally open a studio.

You can always start freelancing and prolly get that break.

Oh Mindwhisper sounds like a series or something, not sure though.

Good day!A website is a key component of the marketing strategy for any successful photography studio. A website should make it easy for prospective customers to see samples of your work, learn more about your professional background, view rates or special promotions, and book appointments online. Hire an experienced Web designer to create a site for your business; don't try to save money by tackling the job on your own. It's important to make a good first impression on those who are interested in taking advantage of your services.

I like Mindwhisper. You have to check if website is not taken or it is not another business name before investing in it.

My suggestion to you is your business doesn't need a physical location so don't rent any place. Instead spend time in presenting your business online and get more connection, focus on your brand name, website design and work

Best,

Saya

I already peeked your post a while ago, I'm just curious of how it is working out for you.

Hope it's going well ;)

In concept it is going well... I am saving a little money for some more equipment. (L series) thank you.

Follow ur Dream and dont let anybody pull you down. take care

I think you should go for it. You should have the drive to achieve, nothing comes easy.
