Hey just curious, what it your biggest pet peeve in regards to visual arts/imagery?

I'll start with people using pixelated images/low-res and/or not enlarging/shrinking them proportionally.

omg i hate it when clients dont get the simplicity concept, then they give some lame excuse like "oh just make it double sided".....sorry bud not happening, they have phonebook listings for a reason
Apple Chancery. Yuk. I'd take Papyrus over AC any time. Maybe even Comic Sans. (OK, maybe not.) Oh, and Times Roman on anything except a newspaper.
Pet peeves on clients... the phrase "Jazz it up but don't spend any time on it." (Well, pick one.) Also any customer who LEADS with "how much do you charge to do a brochure/poster/web site?" Sheesh. That's like asking "How much is a vacation?"
yea that is very true with the prices thing you said, like i try to explain to clients that it all varies

Very true, or like say How much is a car?

I have to agree with most of the posts here so I will try to mention something different. One thing that really gets on me fired up is seeing my artwork destroyed with horrid fonts and 10pt strokes added by the client. I mean damn...give me all the content to start with or pick up the phone to make an update...
When you say you need vector art and you get a file that has a low res jpeg dropped into an ai eps.
well in case the 2 times i got vector files, they were legit vectors that i could work with
I just love it when I have a client that requests vector art that they need to send along to another location, like a screen printer or something. Then when I send them an Illustrator file they whine at me that they can't open it.
Clients. If it weren't for them, the world would be a beautifully designed placed to live in!

If I was to start a list of all my pet peeves, it would be one really super long list because I have a lot of them. I mean it's only natural as designers and artists right? Unless I'm going crazy.

But my big ones would be

- low resolution images/pixelated

- obnoxious color schemes

- unreadable fonts

I've come across a lot of people since starting college that don't know the difference between something that is vector and something that is not. I always end up smacking myself in the head and wanting to do the same with them.

1.People who think because they own photoshop they are now a designer.

2.disproportional images

3.Low res jpeg logos

4.people charging $150 for a website.

5.comic sans, arial, papyrus....so many more

6.client "can we fill that space with a starburst?"

7.client "Can we make the logo bigger?"

8.client "can we use times new roman for that?"

9.designers who use helvetica for EVERYTHING. dont get me wrong I love helvetica its a brilliant typeface, but not for EVERYTHING

10.yellow type on a white bg

11.designs that haven't been kerned.

and oh so many more......

Well, getting that email with the logo you need for some work and the attachment is a .doc/.pps file with an image inside. Very common around here.
