I'm currently working on my portfolio and I was wondering what information should I put in there?
I've seen people just put images or screen shots of their work and some people give a detailed description of the process, ideas and programs along with their work. I'm not sure what's the best way to do it and how to display everything. I'm mocking things up right now.
Right now I have a website (for my business) and I wanted to have my portfolio link from that having the design similar but different. The main site will show latest work as well as advertise and I wanted it to be similar to a wordpress and the portfolio will link of that.
While it's still in the idea phase I would like peoples opinions on the concept. I don't want it to be too difficult navigate through, that is my main concern.
So if anyone want to comment or let me know. I can do things for other people, but as soon as I try to design something for myself I get all flustered and I can't make a decision.
I'm mostly a graphic designer so I'm handing off the coding to someone else. Want to make it simple and easy to code so it doesn't take as long.
I have been told by an art director that it usually a good idea to have some info to explain your work. My current portfolio lacks this and I will be adding it to the next version.
It's a good thing that you still patterned the look of your portfolio page to your main website. Consistency of design is very important. I agree with Dean, putting some little description like tools used and other specifications in each of your designs is a must.
You are going out in the right way. Your home page should be the main page to focus upon which you should make in such a way that it should look creative and should contain the main key designs which could increase the interest of public in your portfolio. I also created my website in almost the same way. you can check it out here at Cheap Logos Design.
