So... You have a website design and don't know coding.

What do you do? Contact a freelance coder or use one of those many services available online of "psd to html"?

Have you used any psd to html service?

Suggest one, talk about your experience, and if the final work came out the way you wanted it.

Edger, I think they can use Dreamweaver too. They can just drag and draw what they want, yes it might not be as efficient as a designers creation who takes all the pain to code a website. But still, without knowing anything that much is OK I guess.

Yes i know, but i mean for those "heavy coding" websites and imagine that you don't know enough coding for that.

Would you go for some psd to html service or find a freelance coder?

I don't think so it will be a wise decision to start a heavy coding without knowing much about coding.........   If you are talking about heavy coding, that means it will involve lots of complicated coding, scripting, etc.

I will suggest to first gather handful knowledge then dive into the heavy coding or complicated site designing.........

I owned a Photoshop plugin called Sitegrinder that I used for turning a Photoshop design into website. It worked but had many limitations. I think I only used it once or twice and gave up on it because I wasn't happy with it. Just took too long to setup and final output always needed more tweaking and wasn't always the best optimized output because some graphic elements could be replaced with HTML/CSS to save on file size etc.

Never used any of the services. Had thought about it but I am sure I would be having some of the same issues for the cost that most charge which seems to be around $50 USD. I doubt for those prices that I would be getting the most optimized site for delivery and SEO and would still need to code a lot to get what I wanted in the end. I doubt it would include anything really cool like animated menus or nice photo delivery options that many create with javascript and jquery these days. I think they will most likely delivery something very bland and simple unless they are charging around $200 or more.

I think I would prefer to start with a website software install package that used templates like CMS systems like Joomla  and Drupal or blogging software like Wordpress that could be modified into regular website vs. paying for someone to code my designs. That is how I started web designing. I learned a lot by just modifying template designs others created and got a powerful website that was very expandable and customizable. That's just my thoughts though and I am a bit picky about somethings ;)

These days, I have gotten myself to the point I can do most work myself and highly encourage anyone that is interested in building websites to learn as much as you can and sometimes you just have to do some trial and error work until you get the experience to overcome the challenges. As a starting point, you can always still design your work in Photoshop and use Photoshop's built-in web slicing functions to output the images and HTML doc. This is a great starting point. Then you just need to use coding skills to tweak the design into something more usable.

Thanks. Yes that's my fear of thos e "psd to hmtl" services. They probably just do something flat.

Thanks for all the tips. ;)

never used any online services like this, i suspect the code isn't too hot

Have you looked into Adobe Muse? It's similar to photoshop and geared for designer who do not know code. It's in beta right now so it's free, but once its finished early 2012, you will be able to use it on a subscription plan. This app may just keep me in web development.

i already heard about Adobe Muse, but didn't had the time to try that... It's on my "too see" list...

Thanks for the tip anyway ;)
