Hi everyone, was reading around this morning and came across this post on FreelanceSwitch:

What, Turn Down a Job?

An interesting read for freelance designers on when its better to say no to a project. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts!

What else would make you say "No" to a job?

It's an interesting article and I can see the point in all of those.

I haven't really turned down a client yet, although I've had a few questionable clients as well. I have been stiffed a few times because I do have a soft spot and of course those clients who cancel midway through.

I think I would turn down jobs if I had a lot of jobs coming my way where I can pick and choose, but as of right now, I take what I can get and I think I'm getting all the ones that have been turned down by other designers LOL

Never! unless they seem like they wont pay.. If you're going to turn clients down send them My way :P

Normally, I never turn down, unless if the hours are bad and it doesn't pay.

I'm really bad at turning down work- but I suppose if I was expected to do something for free upfront and then get paid once it's successful I would politely back out.

At the moment, I would not start on something which is not paid in advance (however paying a deposit will let me think about it), not paid at all (charity), or it is something to do with pornography, violence, etc.

PS. Sometimes t is hard to refuse if your pocket is empty ;)
