I started working in the newspaper industry back in 1996 as pre-press technician simply because I needed to get a foot in the door. I worked my way up in record time of 3 years to journeyman in their union before finally getting the chance to jump into advertising as a designer where I could put my commercial art degree and computer knowledge to use.
I had made it through a dozen years of service with same newspaper company when cuts came. Luckily, I made it through several rounds of cuts in their creative staff due to increasing my skills in online. Those skills allowed me to jump into an online position where I honed my skills developing landing pages, e-newsletters, video production, Flash animation, and rich media development.
Now, I face upcoming cuts again and not sure if I will be able to keep ahead of this round since the cuts are wide and deep. I feel it is time for me to look onward. Should anyone have leads for a position in need of a seasoned veteran artist with a wide range of skills, please contact me. Location not important.
