by . August 9th, 2012

Game of Thrones is a fantasy television series set in medieval times created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for HBO. It is an adaptation of “A Song of Ice and Fire“, a series of high fantasy novels by American author George R. R. Martin in which the first book is entitled “A Game of Thrones“.

The series is about seven noble families fighting in control of the mythical land of Westeros. The battle between the houses  leads to full-scale war.  Since its pilot episode last April 2011, more and more people got hooked with the story – garnering good reviews from viewers and critics and winning numerous nominations and awards. Season 2 premiered last April this year and Season 3 is set to unfold by March 31, 2013.

The popularity of the series has spawned almost everywhere – from various apparel, fan art, digital paintings to stickers, posters and action figures. And for those avid fans of the phenomenal series, we will showcase three sets of stunning wallpapers which feature the seven noble houses.

The first set is the official wallpaper collection released by HBO on their website. The minimal design incorporating the sigils and words is looking nice as desktop wallpapers.

The second set of wallpapers was created by Sergio Tavel, an artist from Bolivia. He made some tweaks on the official wallpapers and created a nice new look. Check out more of his designs on DeviantArt.

The third set of wallpapers is my personal favorite. A digital artist from Russia named Sasha Vinogradova created a stunning set in 3D metallic theme. Check out the project in her Behance page.
