If there’s one cartoon series that we can say has withstood the test of time, it would probably be the Simpsons. Created in 1989 by Matt Groenig for the Fox Broadcasting Company, this series is now celebrating its 24th season. With 509 episodes under its belt, the Simpsons is now the longest-running American sitcom, animated series and primetime scripted television series in US TV history.
Furthermore, since its debut on December 17, 1989, the show has won numerous awards and accolades including 27 Primetime Emmy Awards, 30 Annie Awards and a Peabody Award, and on top of it all, the show even has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Simpsons have indeed become a full-fledged American TV icon that has been recognized all around the world. Its influence over people’s lifestyle and culture is truly undeniable. In fact, a lot of artists, illustrators, marketers and designers all over the globe have taken elements from the show and incorporated them into their own designs.
One particular genre of Simpsons-related art is parodies. These types of design usually involve taking an existing design or art work and “Simpsonifying” it. The resulting product/design provides a comedic representation of the original at the same time providing an impression of familiarity to those who see it.
