In 2012 Tim Burton together with Jim Lemley and Timur Bekmambetow created a movie inspired by Seth Grahame-Smith’s mash up novel entitled “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”. The plot of the movie tells of a young Abraham Lincoln having a secret identity as an axe-wielding vampire hunter. This kind of portrayal for a well-respected American president has rarely been done in the past, much more to a high profile film.
However, the concept of portraying prominent people into characters that are far from their usual description isn’t something new. One such project was the action figure collection created by the toy company Heroes in Action. The collection is entitled Presidential Monsters which features 7 of America’s Presidents (both past and present) depicted as Universal Studios action figures.
The seven presidents included in the collection are John F. Kennedy depicted as the Phantom of the White House (from the Phantom of the Opera), Ronald Reagan as The Romny (the Mummy), George Bush as Zombush, Bill Clinton as Wolf Bill, Richard M. Nixon as the Monster from the Watergate Lagoon (from Creature of the Black Lagoon), Abraham Lincoln as Lincolnstein (from Frankenstein) and Barack Obama as Baracula (from Dracula).
Each action figure costs $29.99 and features Heroes in Action’s Mego-style, which makes use of cloth in the design and creation of these 8-inch action figures. If you’re interested in getting all the 7 presidents in the collection, the entire set costs $164.99 at the company’s website.
So there you have it everyone. Which U.S. President do you wish to be added to the collection and which character would you like him to portray? Do tell us by leaving a comment below.
