Portlandia Perfectly Captures What It’s Like to Work From Home in Two Minutes

by . September 23rd, 2015

Like Rodney Dangerfield, home-based workers can’t get no respect.

Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein recently confirmed that Portlandia, the generation-defining comedy will be wrapping up after it’s 8th season.  Portlandia’s satirization of Portland’s “hipster” culture as well as the ins and outs of contemporary life for “creatives” isn’t instantly relatable for most people. But this look at working from home sure hits close.

I’ve worked from home for years, and I can tell you it doesn’t matter if you blog from your bedroom, make artisan knives in your backyard, or run a catering business from your kitchen. People who’ve never experienced it will never really understand that “yes, I happen to be doing actual work here.”
